Staying hydrated after weight-loss surgery

Now that summer is here, it's more important than ever to remember to drink enough fluids every day. After weight-loss surgery, you should be drinking about 64 ounces of fluid a day. That's eight 8-oz glasses, or approximately 2 liters.
Remember to sip slowly, and take 1-2 mouthfuls at a time. Do not drink fluids with meals as this can cause your food to slip through your band too easily. If you are drinking very dry or spicy food, you can take small sips of water.
Should you stick with your regular weight-loss program after surgery?

Lap-Band patients often wonder if having a band eliminates the need for any sort of structured weight-loss program. After all, if you had success with your previous weight-loss attempts, you wouldn't need the band, right?
The truth is, structured weight-loss programs often work very well in coordination with your band, and many patients decide to continue or rejoin weight-loss programs after their surgery. Group programs or online weight-loss tools are a valuable source of support, resources, and tools that can help you in your weight-loss journey.

Overeating with a Lap-Band can cause significant discomfort, not to mention stretch your stomach pouch and undermine your weight-loss efforts.
