Lap-Band patients often ask what foods to eat during the soft or "mushy" stage of their diet. During this phase, which lasts about two weeks, it's important to choose foods that will easily pass through your band. One-cup meals three times a day is usually sufficient. Because only a small portion of liquids can be tolerated, it's best to stay hydrated with lots of water and to limit foods such as broth, skin milk, and tea. However, as long as the consistency of your food is soft and mushy, you can experiment with different foods and flavors.

The Weight Loss Benefits survey, sponsored by Slimband, found that weight-loss surgery patients reported significant improvements in self-esteem, energy levels, and quality of life following their procedures.
