Following Lap-Band surgery, some patients may start experiencing gas and abdominal pain. Because the band changes the natural process of the digestive tract, some digestive issues are common, including gassiness, bloating, and cramping.
Many patients are able to get used to the increased gassiness and find that it is a side effect of the band that they are able to tolerate. Others, however, may experience severe abdominal pain and discomfort that can interfere with sleep or other daily activities.
